CHARITIES ACT UPDATE
All PTAs will now need to register separately with the Charities Commission because IRD decided
that PTAs do not have a sufficient degree of association with the National body in
terms of control and funding arrangements.
All PTAs that joined NZPTA by 1 July 2008 have been allowed until
November 2008 to apply to the Charities Commission while still retaining their tax exemption from IRD.
